Video: Nainital homestay owner shares experience with ‘unruly’ guests from Delhi-NCR

The owners of a homestay in Uttarakhand’s Nainital narrated their bad experience with a group of guests from Delhi-NCR who damaged their property and also refused to pay charges.
In a video on Instagram, Nature View Villa shared a video documenting the mess that the guests had left behind. The footage revealed bottles of alcohol and cigarette butts scattered throughout every room and on the balcony, while dirty dishes were left on the table. The group, in fact, also damaged the television and ruined bedsheets and blankets.
“We recently hosted a group from Delhi NCR at our homestay. Before starting this, many fellow homestay owners warned us about people from Delhi NCR, but we never thought much of it. Being from the hills, we have always loved hosting guests and sharing the beauty of this place,” Nature View Villa said in their post.
“But last night changed our minds. This group of men we hosted, left our home like this. They checked out without informing us. They left bottles of alcohol and cigarette butts in every room and balcony. Some broken, some spilled. They broke our television. Damaged our bedsheets and blankets, and now they are refusing to pay any charges,” it added.
The owners concluded the video with a humble request to tourists, saying: “Our homestays are deeply cherished. They hold a piece of our hearts that we love to share with you people. We want our guests to have the best experience when they visit us. Please be responsible. Treat our homes as if it were your own.”

The incident has left social media users furious about the guests’ “unruly” and “ill-mannered” code of conduct. Several others asked Nature View Villa to reveal the identities of the guests, saying: “Let the world know about them.”
After several viewers asked Nature View Villa to file a police complaint, the owners said in a comment on their post: “We have already placed a complaint on every possible platform, but this act should be seen by the general public and fellow Airbnb owners. People should know that the acts they do or destruction they do will not go unnoticed.”
