Description
WOW, what a find! We are most pleased to offer, in this auction, anexceptionally fine example of a 1920s, Brunswick Balke Collender, one-piece
pool cue, model #220, known by most as a Fishpole style. It measures
57-1/2 inches tip to butt and is stamped 21 = ounces that it weighs. A
long-distance picture showing the entire cue serves no real purpose, since
it is so far away, so, I have pictured sections, some in rolled ¼ turns to
show all around the shaft. The silk wrapping is solid and not frayed. Please
let these pictures be the key to condition. Remember, the close-ups are
greatly magnified. Any irregularities, or problem will be mentioned. In the
horizontal picture of the mother-of-pearl inlay, it appears that one edge is
a little rough this is a blur from sunlight Please refer to the vertical
picture perfect edges. You will note that the center section of the shaft,
where the cue slides over or through the guiding hand it is a lighter color
than the section further forward, just a little wear from use. I placed a
36 metal rule on the front 36 of the shaft to check for warp. At one turn
I could see light, but not enough to even measure.
This old cue was
purchased, by our consignor, in the early 1960s in Johnson City Illinois at
Janscos World Pool Tournament from a young want-to-be professional who had
lost all of his money in side betting and needed money to return home! We
are starting this most desirable old cue at about half of what most dealers
ask for them, so that all might have a chance to own it at a reasonable
price So I think your competition bidders could well be dealers! Thank you
for your interest in our ONCEOZA auction!
