One Dozen Berrys LP

Chess LP-14
32.
This is 50's rock at it's earliest!! Chuck was one of rock and roll's founding fathers, he was at the start of it all.. a true rock and roll pioneer!! He was pretty much along side of Elvis, Buddy Holly, Jerry Lee Lewis, Bill Hailey, Johnny Burnette and maybe a couple others. This guy was rockin' a good 8 years before the Beatles even came around! In the early 1950's, he was influenced by T-Bone Walker and got his break in 1955 when he went to Chicago and met Muddy Waters. Muddy told him to contact Leonard Chess of Chess records and the rest is history.
Although I can't be sure, there is a definite possibility this could very well be the earliest 1958 pressing with black Chess labels. It has the right feel (medium flexibility) and about the same weight as an opened black label copy I have listed.
Basically the only issue with this album is a torn piece of shrink on bottom right corner. There is only a piece of shrink missing in the front right corner (2"x4"), but none is missing on the back. The shrink has some light scuffs and a little sticker glue residue on upper front right, but otherwise the cover is in NM- condition. There is a tiny manufacturing defect at the very tip of the upper right corner, but it was not cut after, as the shrink is fully covering the whole corner.
Here's an excerpt from Wikipedia:
Charles Edward Anderson
"Chuck" Berry (born October 18, 1926) is an American guitarist, singer and songwriter, and one of the pioneers of
rock and roll
music. With songs such as "
Maybellene
" (1955), "
Roll Over Beethoven
" (1956), "
Rock and Roll Music
" (1957) and "
Johnny B. Goode
" (1958), Chuck Berry refined and developed
rhythm and blues
into the major elements that made rock and roll distinctive, with lyrics focusing on teen life and consumerism and utilizing
guitar solos
and
showmanship
that would be a major influence on subsequent rock music.
