    Description

Gray's Pottery is the most common name for the products of a company started by Albert Edward Gray (1871-1959)
in Stoke-on-Trent, England in 1907. AE Gray's pottery often carried a backstamp which included the phrase
HAND-PAINTED, for hand-decorated patterns were the very essence of the majority of the thousands of designs produced during the firm's existence.
For your consideration, I am offering a rare, 1930's Art Deco small earthenware - Handled Toast Rack with two Jam Dishes manufactured by Gray's Pottery in the hand-painted "Floral" design pattern  A1164
    - a Sam Talbot design...Made in Stoke-On-Trent, England..circa 1933...
This rare, gorgeous piece features a center handle with two openings for toast - two hand-painted floral pattern dishes for jam and/or butter with scalloped rim trimmed with gold..
A beautiful style developed by Susie Cooper..
    Approximate size:
7.5 inches length by 3.5 inches width at each dish..
Backstamp: The Ship Stamp mark was used during the timeline circa 1930's - Hand-Painted Gray's Pottery - Made in Stoke-On-Trent England in capital letters... also in black a H or A with numbers 116 4 2.. (Stamp marks at times are very difficult to read - Painters or Artists were paid piece-work,therefore they took the minimum time needed to paint anything was not particularly important to be seen)..
Light signs of previous use should be expected consistent with age and previous ownership - free chips, cracks, hairlines, stains ..Some crazing might be present and expected with earthenware..Very clean. Other imperfections seem to be craft related..
A outstanding Collector piece to own for the Gray's and Susie Copper Collector!!
Various information was received on the exact pattern number from the uk grayspottery website - thank you!!
    SOME INTERESTING INFORMATION:
Gray's Art Director at that time (Susie Cooper left Gray's in 1929). Talbot and Cooper were contemporaries (both born in 1902 and following a similar educational path) and so it's difficult to assess who started the style of this type of 'simple' floral design epitomised by patterns like A1164..
NOW INCLUDING INSURANCE with Priority and UPS shipping Quotes...(
    internationally-possibly expect additional custom fees
)...BUT I do not charge for packaging material ..I cannot see what your shipping quote says and by bidding, you are accepting that shipping price!!! Plus I do not pre pack due to combined ship specials, last minute questions and picture requests, So please be patient if requesting an updated invoice..When the price of stamp went up, so did the rest of shipping prices so leaving low feedback scores only effects my selling rating with ebay..
Comes from a smoke-free home, but we do have pets in our household, so there might be some fly away pet hair, so I am apologizing in advance...
I do take most of the photos outdoors to catch the natural coloring on each item I am selling, so there might be some sun shadows...
Any additional info needed or other photos, please do not hesitate to email me....If there are any imperfections that I see, will list them, BUT I am only human and might miss some...plus something may be of insignificant to me, may be of great importance to you, so if you have doubts or questions, PLEASE email me PRIOR to bidding...

I try to describe each piece - if a error was made and I happen to miss something, please email me and I will try my best to correct.. I am human and I apologize in advance..The items I sell are vintage, antique pieces and have been previously owned - these are not new store bought items...I also do my best to give detailed information on the vintage items.
