: This lovely maroon and white footed cup and saucer is marked with the green backstamp of Hammersley & Co, the iconic Stoke-on-Trent, England, china factory.
Hammersley began production in 1932. In 1976 it merged with Royal Worcester, and the Hammersley brand was retired in 1982.
Design
: The pretty and finely detailed pattern
features clusters of beautifully hand painted flowers and white scrollwork; the floral design is continued on the cup's exterior. The set is trimmed in gold.
A handwritten pattern number that appears to be 57227 is on the cup's base. The number is subject to interpretation.
Size
: The cup is 2 1/2 inches tall and 3 7/8 inches wide; the saucer is 5 3/4 inches wide.
Condition
: Both pieces are in excellent condition with no nicks, chips, cracks, scratches, marks, stains or repairs.
