    Description

I bought this piece of pottery at an estate sale in 1985.  I fell in love with the face with the look of joy and serenity and decided I wanted to wake up every day looking at this beautiful thing and it's been on my counter ever since.  I know nothing about the history but I was assured at the time that this was quite old and was brought to America and that was why there was no "Made in China" markings.  I didn't care at the time but now trying to research this with the Chinese markings has left me finding nothing quite like it for this size and weight.
Therefore, I can't contribute or list the age of this pottery or say much about it.  It is a white ivory in color with the clothing shirt a design of one large single flowering branch on the top surrounded by smaller plants and blooms.  There is an over-all cracked crackle appearance, al under a high gloss glaze.  There are holes in the ears and under the armpits for air escape while firing, and there are natural maker's flaws, such as a bump here and there.  There are no chips or cracks or damages, and this was well appreciated and taken care of.  It measures 15.5" from the tip of the nose to the edges of the toes with a height that measures approximately 9.25" tall. The base length is 13" from the toes to the crossed arms area and measures 6.25" across.  The bottom tummy area has Chinese character writing symbols on it.  The underside blackened areas are from kiln firing and this is not dirt or soiled  This piece is very heavy weighing almost 10 pounds before wrapping for shipping, so the cost for the shipping might have to be adjusted, depending on your zip code zone.
It is heavy and I may have to adjust the amount for shipping depending on your zip code area but will refund immediately if I have asked to much for shipping.
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If I have asked too much  money to ship to your area, you will get a refund immediately.  I will do whatever possible to reduce the cost of shipping. The amount listed here is simply an estimate and very seldom is it increased, and then only for real distance, weight of the package and insurance. A corrected invoice will be sent if necessary. I reserve the right to ask for and receive the real amount for shipping costs. Payment is due within three days of the auction ending time. Thanks for looking and good luck always!
BY PLACING A BID ON OR PURCHASING AN ITEM YOU AGREE THAT YOU HAVE READ AND UNDERSTAND AND ACCEPT ALL TERMS AND CONDITIONS AS STATED BELOW.  VERY IMPORTANT: The SHIPPING CARRIER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR LOST OR DAMAGED ITEMS WHEN ITEMS ARE INSURED.  Any insurance claims or monetary claims for items damaged during transit will be strictly between the buyer and the freight company in question.  I pack items with care but when the carrier takes possession, I can’t guarantee safety.   In the unlikely event that an item is damaged during shipping transit, You, the Buyer, agree to file the insurance claim with the U.S. Post Office for reimbursement.  I will send you the necessary receipts for you to file a claim with the Post Office. It is YOUR responsibility to file a claim for any insured items that are damaged because that is what Insurance is purchased for. This is the U.S. Post Office requirement and this information is found on their web site on the “File A Claim” page.  I can NOT file claims with the Post Office for you. E Bay might tell you differently, but the U.S. Postal Regulations and Requirements are very clear. In order for the claim to be processed with the Post Office, the receiver of the damaged item must file the claim at their local Post Office or you may file online. You will need to keep the damaged item, the box with the labels on it, and all of the original packing materials as the Post Office may require them for proof of damage.
If the item is broken or damaged during shipping (I ALWAYS inspect everything before it leaves here) and there is insurance on the item, the claim must be started at the buyer's location and should not be returned to me. Always contact me to make sure that you have everything you need to do this. I wrap very well and don't expect there to be any problems.
